Apparently, by the time you reach your mid-sixties, you're supposed to stop caring about how you look, look after the grandchildren, get the knitting needles out, simply accept that ageing is inevitable... all while sipping on a sherry.

Well... I couldn't disagree more.

Then an advert for Jhoveth Lee-Overy Aesthetic Clinic popped up on my Facebook feed. Like most people, I clicked on it for a little nosey around. Having had CO2 laser skin resurfacing before, I know only too well what the treatment usually costs, so I was pleasantly surprised by the prices.

For anyone who has never had laser skin resurfacing, let me be completely honest. Numbing cream is applied beforehand, but you will still feel it. It isn't unbearable, although it does sting in places. I think it's only fair to say that because I want this review to be honest, not simply glowing.

I decided it was time to give my face a complete refresh, especially the delicate area beneath my eyes. Over the years, I've been to Harley Street and some of the well-known surgical clinics in the North West too. Tick—I can honestly say I've been there. And while the treatments were good, I have to say that you're paying just as much for the postcode and the name as you are for the procedure itself.

Am I vain? Yes, I am—but at least I'm honest about it. I don't believe there is anything wrong with wanting to look like the best version of yourself, whatever your age. Looking after yourself doesn't stop simply because you've collected a few more birthdays and eaten a great deal of cake.

I still remember my sixtieth birthday, when there were so many candles on the cake that I nearly singed my hair.

This time, I chose Jhoveth Lee-Overy Aesthetic Clinic, and I'm so pleased I did. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. Jhoveth is warm, professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about achieving natural-looking results. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.

For anyone considering it, I'm talking about CO₂ laser skin resurfacing, which works by removing the outer layers of damaged skin and stimulating new collagen production. It isn't a lunchtime treatment—you need to be prepared to stay at home for a week or two while your skin heals naturally. That's all part of the process.

What really impressed me was the aftercare. Jhoveth provides everything you need for your recovery and asks you to send her a photo of your skin every day so she can monitor your progress. If you have a question or even the slightest concern, she's only a message away. That level of care and reassurance is worth its weight in gold.

The results don't happen overnight. Your skin starts off red, but after about a week or so you can begin wearing makeup again. Then, week by week, you start to see the improvement. If you're prepared to trust the process, the results really are worth the wait.

I could have written a quick two-line review and left it at that, but I felt this young lady deserved far more. In a world where it's easy to criticise, I think it's just as important to recognise genuine professionalism, kindness and talent.
